1928 Southern/March wedding

The wedding of Zoe Barbara March and Clarence Leslie ('Les') Southern took place in 1928, probably in the Catholic Church in Evesham. The Southern family lived in Cow Honeybourne at the 1911 census and the March family were mainly in Cowl Street, Evesham. The Southerns later moved to Pitchers Hill. The groom's parents, Charles and Maria, had nine sons, all of whom served in some capacity in the Second World War.

The names of all in the photo are:

  • Back row from the left: George March (brother of bride), priest , Clarence Leslie (Les) Southern (groom, with striped tie), Frederick Southern (best man & brother of the groom), unknown (cousin of bride), priest.  (To the best of our knowledge the priests were Fathers Bamford and Marrow but we are not sure which one is which.)
  • Front row from the left: Maria Southern (groom's mother), unknown bridesmaid (friend of the bride), Zoe Barbara March (bride), Gladys Southern (sister of groom), Alice Kender March (mother of bride) and Charles Southern (father of the groom).

The photo was lent to us by Rob Sandel who lives in Worcester. He is a grandson of the couple who were married.
