BADSEY AND BELGIAN REFUGEES

A meeting was held on Wednesday evening at the Old School to discuss plans for supporting a family of Belgians in the village. The Vicar (the Rev W C Allsebrook), who took the chair, announced that Mr Thomas Byrd, of Aldington, had kindly promised a house rent free for the purpose. Promises were given by many present of weekly subscriptions and of the loan of furniture, etc. A committee was formed to collect further subscriptions and necessaries for the house. The Misses Sladden were elected joint Hon secretaries, and will be glad to receive any offers of help.
