Case for exemption
The Recruiting Officer claimed that William Hancox was not engaged in a certified occupation. He is a cowman in the employ of Mr A G Kerr, who wrote asking that the man should be exempted. Mr Kerr added that there was not one man in fifty in the district who would work among stock. It was stated that Mr Kerr had two other men, one of whom was said to work on the market garden land. The Sub-Advisory Committee objected to the man being exempted. The Tribunal decided that it was not in the national interest to retain the man in civil employment.
