My dear Mother

Thank you so much for your letter. No, Hester will not come now; it would be very uncomfortable for us both. Margaret has got to stay in England after all, so may she come? You did say I might have her and I told her so and said I would write and ask you today. She says she would just love to come and would like the last part of the holidays best so that we might travel back to school together. The other part of the time she will probably be at Birmingham. Would you please write to Margaret’s aunt (Mrs Trimble, Newburn House, Trabane, Co Tyrone, Ireland) some time this week, as she is now fixing up Margaret’s holiday arrangements. As Margaret says, her aunt has promised her that she shall come to me some time so I’m sure she will be allowed to come. It is very nice of you to suggest my having someone else instead.

Very much love from your loving daughter.

Juliet E Sladden
