India - Allahabad: All Saints Cathedral
All Saints Cathedral is an Anglican Cathedral in the city of Allahabad in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, formerly Bengal, and is where Mela Brown Constable was baptised. It is mentioned in a letter written by Mela on 5th May 1915.
All Saints Cathedral was consecrated in 1887 and completed four years later. It is a Gothic Revival building, typical of those built by the British during their rule in India, designed by Sir William Emerson. Mela’s father, Albert Edward Brown Constable was deacon there under the archdeacon, Brook Deedes. Mela was born on 31st December 1887 and Brook Deedes was her godfather. She was baptised on 6th January 1888.
