Contains a profile of a market gardening family, the Sears family, originally from Wickhamford. Article/photographs on development of Sands Lane formerly Sand Field/Lane and sold by Edward Wilson, Lord of the Manor, to George Byrd in 1866. In 1889 and 1893 further land in Sands Lane was sold by John Jones and trustees of John Pickup Lord for housing and later the Recreation Ground and plant nursery.
