First Badsey Society newsletter sent to all households within the parishes of Badsey and Aldington, in order to publicise the newly-formed Society. Gives details of the inaugural meeting on 28th February 2002 at St James’ Church and the aims: “To promote the understanding and study of the parish of Badsey (including Aldington); to conduct activities connected with Badsey past and present, including meetings, lectures, walking tours, education and publication in print and electronic media, in areas such as history, archaeology, folklore, flora, fauna and geology.” Details of a logo competition and the Badsey website. Forthcoming events include a stand at Badsey First School Summer Fete which will be opened by Mrs Elizabeth Spencer, the new Head Teacher (Badsey’s first female Head in over 100 years), who herself comes from a market gardening background. The Society's first major task will be the publication of a new edition of the book, A Brief History of Badsey and Aldington, by Terry Sparrow, in September 2002.
