Brades Steel Works was built at Oldbury in the West Midlands in the 1790s by William Hunt, who had bought the Brades Estate in 1882. Following mergers with Nash Tyzack Industries in 1951 to become Brades Nash Tyzack Industries and with Skelton to become Brades, Skelton & Tyzack Ltd in 1962, it then became part of Spear & Jackson in 1962.
