Family tree of Penelope Washington, a kinswoman of George Washington, first President of the USA, entitled "Penelope, The Years Between, Washington-Sandys". Family tree research by R D H Seaman, sketch by Michael J Barnard 1985. Includes the arms of Washington and the arms of Sandys and sketches of Wickhamford, with the inscription, "Penelope's manor home at Wickhamford in the shaw of the parish church where she is buried. A view looking south from Cowmeadows."
There is an error on the Washington section of the family tree where one generation has been omitted. Lawrence Washington (c1565-1616) and Margaret Butler had seven sons and nine daughters. However, the John and Lawrence Washington shown as emigrating to America were actually the next generation down, being two of the six children of Lawrence Washington (1602-1653) who married Amphilis Twigden. The correct relationship of Penelope Washington (who came with her mother, Elizabeth Sandys, formerly Washington, née Packington, to live at Wickhamford Manor with her new husband) to George Washington (1731-1799), first President of the United States of America, was second-cousin-twice-removed.
