Sladden Orchard
Sladden Orchard stood on the corner of High Street and Brewers Lane. The land was sold in the 1950s and the trees felled in preparation for the building of a detached bungalow (now called The Majors, 21 High Street) at the west end and a detached bungalow (called Allen Croft, No 10 Brewers Lane) at the east end. This photograph dates from that time.
In the 1970s, three detached houses were built in between the two (Nos 4, 6 & 8 Brewers Lane). At the far end of the orchard, at the junction of Brewers Lane and Chapel Street lies Stone Cottage.
