As we go to press, the news of Major S B Carter’s sudden death has shocked us all. We offer deep sympathy to Mrs S B Carter and to his mother. A memoir will be published in next month’s issue.

The attendance at the Memorial Service was a great tribute to one who, with all the claims made upon him, always found time to attend to the affairs of our village. I am most grateful to all who helped with the arrangements for a service which will be long remembered. Mr Leslie Poulter has written a striking memoir, and has kindly defrayed the cost of printing the copies enclosed with this month’s issue of the Parish Magazine. WBC.
