1931 wedding - Audrey Lees-Milne & Matthew Arthur

Wedding of Audrey Lees-Milne (1905-1990) and Matthew Arthur (1909-1976) on 9th April 1931 in the Church of St John the Baptist, Wickhamford.  The top picture was taken outside Audrey’s home, Wickhamford Manor, after their wedding at the adjacent church.  Audrey was born in Cheshire in 1905 and moved with her parents, George and Helen Lees-Milne, to the Manor, after he bought the property in 1906.

Matthew Arthur was a son of James Cecil Arthur, Baron Glenarthur of Carlung in the county of Ayr.  Matthew became 3rd Baron Glenarthur in 1942 after the death of his father, but he and Audrey had already divorced by this time.  They had one daughter, born in 1932.  Audrey later married Cecil ‘Tony’ Stevens; she died in October 1990.
