Gardening Club planting a tree - February 1977

Mrs Bessie Astley and Mr N. Gardner, of Wickhamford Gardening Club, planted two silver birch trees in February 1977, to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee.   They were planted on the green by the Council houses on the lower part of Pitchers Hill.  Only two others in the picture are known; Tony and Iris Smith are second and third from the left in the row behind Bessie Astley.  The second picture shows one of the trees in 2021.
