13. The disappearance of Aldington Mill

As soon as we started to look at the 1807 Aldington enclosure map, we noticed a problem. Where was Aldington Mill? Aldington Mill is mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book and is shown in this postcard around 1900. But the map shows neither a mill nor a millpond.

Mike Lovatt took up this challenge and began to research the history of mills in the area. His findings - including the answer to the mystery - will be published on the Badsey website. Mike has also made a survey of local bridges.
