A harvest of gypsophila

Flowers grown for market were an important crop in the Badsey area. Those grown commercially included asters, anemones, narcissi, pinks, pyrethrums, statice and wallflowers (gillies). Here the crop was gypsophila. The mass of small white flowers was popular with florists for complementing other blooms.

The gypsophila was being picked at "The Sands". Left to right are Mr George Moisey, Mrs Mary Bowley, Mrs Julia Moisey, Mrs Keyte, Mrs Emma Smith, and (probably) Miss Moisey.
