Leslie Poulter in naval uniform

During World War I, Leslie Poulter enlisted in the navy where he was taught to fly. Much of his service career was spent in the air. You can read his story in Leslie Poulter’s War.

The Poulter family did not come into Wickhamford until shortly after World War II. Previously they had lived at The Driffold, on the Murcot turn, when Leslie was in the Home Guard. Before that they lived at The Lodge, Wood Norton until ousted in World War II when the BBC took over the estate.

The Poulter family have farmed in Wickhamford since shortly after World War II, when Leslie Poulter bought Pitchers Hill Farm in Manor Road.
