NEW VOGUE IN WEDDING CAKE DECORATIONS

The very latest war fashion is the military wedding cake. So largely has this become a feature of weddings associated with military and naval men that the wholesale manufacturers are specialising in toy ornaments of a warlike character to decorate the cakes.

These are mostly ornamental cannon, guns and rifles, with battleships for naval men, and very well executed models of aeroplanes for bridegrooms connected with the Flying Corps. Armoured cars and flags of all nations also figure in the lists supplied the retail trade. “Sugared Cupids and harps are at a discount,” said a wholesale representative at the Confectioners’ Exhibition on Friday, “and in fact, there is nothing angelic about the fashionable military wedding cake today.”

The little ornaments are distributed as souvenirs to the wedding guests.
