MR K GRINDLE MARRIED AT BADSEY

A wedding of considerable interest took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday morning between Miss Elsie Mary Jelfs, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs Eric Jelfs of Ivy House, Badsey, and Mr Kenneth Michael Grindle, eldest son of Mr & Mrs C H Grindle of Heysham House, Offenham Road, Evesham.

The ceremony was conducted by the Vicar (Rev W B Chapman).

The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in a full-length dress of French embroidered silk, silk embroidered veil and headdress of orange blossom and white shoes.  She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and white heather with maidenhair fern.

She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Joan Jelfs (her sister) and Miss Margaret Grindle (sister of the bridegroom).  Miss Jelfs wore a dress of pink floral georgette over salmon pink corded silk taffeta with picture hat, gloves and shoes to tone.  Miss Grindle was dressed in pale blue floral georgette over apple green corded silk taffeta, with apple green shoes, gloves and hat to tone.

Mr Peter Bennett, a friend of the bridegroom, was best man.  A reception was afterwards held at the Northwick Hotel, Evesham, where over 50 guests were entertained.

Both bride and bridegroom come from well-known and respected families in the district.  The bridegroom, who was born in Lancaster, came to live in Evesham with his parents about ten years ago.  He was educated at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Evesham, and after serving for two years in HM Forces, attended the School of Chiropody in Birmingham.

The bride, a native of Badsey, also received her education at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Evesham, and has been employed at Messrs Willmotts Limited, Evesham.
