BADSEY WEDDING
The wedding took place on Wednesday last of Miss Ruby Phyllis Manners, fifth daughter of Mr & Mrs W C Manners of Doralade, Bretforton Road, and Mr Reginald Henry Howard Reid, eldest son of the late Mr & Mrs H Reid of Harvington. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ivory satin ankle length dress with veil and a “halo” of orange blossom, and hat, shoes and gloves to match. Her bouquet was or carnations, cornflowers and lilies, with maiden hair fern. She was attended by the Misses Olive and Sybil Manners (sisters0 and Miss Joyce Derrett (friend). They wore turquoise blue dresses of silk taffeta with blue and silver caps trimmed with flowers. The bride’s mother wore a dress of brown marrocain trimmed with turquoise blue. The ceremony was conducted by the Vicar (Canon W C Allsebrook). The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Homer. The service was choral and the hymns “The voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “O Perfect Love” were sung. Mr Leslie Sharp was at the organ. The couple left the church to the strains of “The wedding March” and a peal rung on the church bells. A reception was held at Evesham at which 40 guests attended. Mr & Mrs Reid then left for their honeymoon which is being spent at Brighton. The b ride travelled in a light costume with navy blouse and hat, shoes and gloves to match. The bride, since leaving school, has been employed at Little Comberton Post Office where she worked up to the time of her marriage. The bridegroom is employed at the Russell Workshops, and is now working in London. He was very popular on the sports field, having assisted Broadway Athletic at football and Broadway and Badsey Cricket Clubs. Mr & Mrs Reid will make their future home at North Acton, London.
