Miss J Enstone and Gunner Popplewell

The marriage took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday of Miss Joan Enstone, elder daughter of Mr J Enstone and the late Mrs Enstone of Cotswold Cottages, Bretforton Road, Badsey, and Gunner Harold Popplewell, Royal Artillery, youngest son of the late Mr & Mrs Popplewell, Worcester.  The Vicar, Canon W C Allsebrook, officiated.

The bride, given away by her father, wore a floral silk dress with navy coat and accessories and a spray of carnations.  Mr Thomas Marshall, cousin of the bride, was best man.

The bride, who was educated at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Evesham, is a member of the Badsey detachment of the Red Cross and has been employed as cashier at Mr T M Evans’ grocery establishment, Evesham.  The bridegroom at one time played football for Evesham Early Closers and also in the Worcester Thursday League.

Presents were received from Badsey detachment of the Red Cross, Mr T M Evans, and the staff of Mr T M Evans.  Mr & Mrs Popplewell’s future home will be at Bretforton Road, Badsey.
