WEDDING
A wedding of considerable local interest took place at St James’ Church on Saturday when Miss Thelma Lorain (Peggy) Butler was married to Corporal Kenneth Austin Ellison of 33 Synehurst, Badsey. Both bride and bridegroom are very well known in the district. The ceremony was conducted by Canon W C Allsebrook. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a gown of white-figured satin with train. Her veil was held in position with a spray of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. Bridesmaids were Miss Sheila Butler (sister) who wore a sky-blue organdie picture dress over satin with matching headdress of leaves and Miss Mary Ellison (sister of the bridegroom) who wore a mauve organdie picture dress over satin with matching headdress of leaves. Their bouquets were of pink tulips. Leading aircraftman J Moore was best man. The fully choral service included the hymns “Lead us, Heavenly Father, Lead us” and “O, Perfect Love”. Mr Henry King was at the organ. The bride was presented with two horseshoes. A reception was held at The Manor, Badsey, where about 50 guests attended.
