BADSEY WEDDING

The marriage took place at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Saturday of Miss Doris N Whiting, third daughter of Mr & Mrs S G Whiting of Brewers Lane, Badsey, and Mr Arthur F Witts, eldest son of Mr & Mrs A L Witts of Bretforton.  The ceremony was conducted by the Vicar of Badsey, Canon W C Allsebrook.  The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle-length gown of white satin with a veil held in place by a wreath of orange blossom.  She carried a bouquet of red carnations and maidenhair fern.  She was attended by three bridesmaids and a page.  Miss Eileen Muriel Wellings wore an ankle-length dress of pale blue crepe-de-chine with a headdress of blue and pink flowers.  She carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern.  The two small bridesmaids, Misses Eileen Witts, sister of the bridegroom, and Susan Clarke, cousin of the bridegroom, who wore ankle-length dresses of pink taffeta trimmed with blue and headdresses of blue and pink flowers.  Bouquets were pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern.  The page, Donald Mumford, nephew of the bride, wore a pale blue satin blouse with cream trousers and black patents shoes.  Mr James Walford, Bretforton, was best man.  The service was choral, the hymns being “Lead us, Heavenly Father, Lead us”, “O, Love Divine” and “The Voce that Breathed O’er Eden”.  Mr C Sharp was at the organ.  The reception was held at the Memorial Hall, Bretforton, where about 60 guests were present.  The bridegroom, who is well-known in the district, was for some years a playing member of Bretforton Old Boys Football Club.  The happy couple will make their future home at Drinkwater Lane, Bretforton.
