MR S S MUSTOE AND MISS S M JONES

Mr Samuel Stanley Mustoe, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr E Mustoe of The Orchards, Badsey, and for many years of The Royal Oak, and Miss Sheila Hirst Jones, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs H Jones of 18 Queen Street, Huddersfield, were married at St James’ Church, Badsey, on Whit Monday.  The service, conducted by the Vicar, the Rev J G Jeffreys, was fully choral, the hymns being “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us” and “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden”.  The bridal march from Lohengrin was played by the organist, Mrs G marshall, and the choir met the bride at the church door.

Miss ones was given away by her father and was becomingly attired in oyster georgette with a corsage of diamante and silver gilt and her embroidered veil with a wreath of orange blossom was lent to her by a friend of her mother’s.  She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and maidenhair fern.  Her attendants were Miss Olwen Jones, sister, who wore a mauve taffeta dress with veil and feathered headdress to match.  Miss Pat Mustoe, sister of the bridegroom, in pale pink silk net over satin, Miss Mary Stewart attired in blue taffeta with matching headdress and veil, while Miss Patsy Jane Stewart wore a dress of beige net over turquoise.  The Misses Stewarts are nieces of the bridegroom.  The three elder attendants carried bouquets of multi-coloured sweet peas and the younger bridesmaid carried a Victorian post.  The best man was Mr R Harker, brother-in-law, of the bridegroom, who deputised for the bridegroom’s brother, who is serving overseas.

A reception was held at The Royal Oak where about 100 guests were entertained.  The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a bracelet and to the bridesmaids he gave brooches and a silver bangle to little Miss Stewart.  The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a gold signet ring.

The couple later left to spend their honeymoon in London, the bride travelling in a saxe blue marocain dress with a navy blue coat and accessories.  They were the recipients of many useful and lovely presents including several cheques.  Their future address is The Royal Oak, Badsey.
