My darling Wife,
I must not on any account miss the post to-night as I am quite sure you will not forget to look for the usual letter. I have wondered to-day how you have been getting on with our dear “little one” and hope I may have a line from Fanny in the morning to re-assure me that my dearest Eugénie is still going on nicely.
Ridgeway has telegraphed again he wants to stop till Monday so I must manage without him.
I have been quite busy to-day what with brewing and sending out a little beer, to-morrow I expect to go to Broadway with Mr Allard; at the Junction to-day I booked a cask of beer apiece to three inhabitants of Chipping Norton. I think I must make up a ton-load next week and send the horse and dray! I have just written to George, if Fanny has not written to-day she can send next week her “Lusitania”.
When I have had dinner I will write to May and Miss Burridge and to Charlotte probably, also and then I can let them know at Ash how you are and also give a description of our “little Jack” of whom I think I am not a little proud, you may give him a kiss from his father; and now good-bye dear girl till Friday night.
God bless you. Ever believe me
Your loving Husband
Julius Sladden
