Mr Dear Eugénie,
I don’t know that you quite deserve a letter to-day as the afternoon mail brought me no letters and I wanted to know if you had the deep snow we have here, it seems disposed to thaw now but some of the roads have been quite blocked. I managed to walk into Sandwich yesterday and go on to Deal by train but it was rather bad going. I propose to leave here on Monday and shall stay in town, I think, and travel down on Tuesday, probably arriving either by the 5.35 or 7.25 train.
I am anxious to hear how the chicks got on on Friday. Hope Jack is better.
I shall be so glad to see you all again.
With love and kisses to the children and to yourself, darling wife.
I am as ever
Your loving Husband
