My Dear Wife,
There is no news for me to give you, but you will like to have Jack’s letter to look at, I will also enclose a long one from George, please return it as I must reply next Sunday.
I hope you had a pleasant journey and that you had time for a nice little chat with Mrs Burrows, however I dare say we may hear in the morning. I have been gardening this afternoon so that Crane may not be hindered in his digging.
We are getting on all right in your absence, so far. Mr Gepp called to see you and thank us for the goose this afternoon and for a wonder I was at home. My cold is rather on the mend.
