Badsey
Evesham
Nov 1/94
My Dearest Wife,
I will reply to your letter, just received, while I am waiting for 10 o’clock to go to the School Board meeting, after which I am going on to Mickleton &c, I went up to the brewery early this morning on account of said meeting. The “Literary” went off well last night, I had Cull’s trap up and walked home for the roads are so bad and our horse was not available. I enclose the programme which you will like to see. I have had a fire put in the drawing room this morning on account of the damp, Aspa tuned the piano the other day.
If you can fit the trains comfortably via Reading take the 2.53 from there which will land you at Badsey at 5.20 otherwise you had better come to Evesham by 1.30 or 4.45 from Paddington and have a fly. I shall expect you at Badsey at 5.20 unless I hear to the contrary. We shall all be glad to get you back, dear, and I do hope you will find some benefit from your change. I am glad you are going to the theatre on Friday, I never saw “Money” but as it is one of Robertson’s plays it is sure to be good. Ethel says she is going to write a few lines presently to put in this. The boys send their love and thanks for your letter. It is very mild this morning but showery again, I am getting rather sick of all this wet. I do not think there is much more news for you so with much love from us all
I am ever
your affectionate Husband
Julius Sladden
Cyril send a kiss, he wants Saturday to come very much.
