My Dearest Wife,
I am wondering whether you will reach Paris again from Bourg this evening, I hope so, also that you will not be too much knocked up.
I thought I had better post a letter on Saturday morning, to make sure of your hearing before you re-cross the channel. It has been warmer the last few days but there is a nice air and the nights are still cool. We are getting along very well and Ethel manages things all round very comfortably. Cyril is a good boy and manages to make himself happy enough. I do not think, as Jack has made a fresh arrangement with Mrs Pearce, that you need re-open the question at present, under these circumstances there will be no need for you to go to Canonbury, he might meet you in London one Saturday and accompany you to Woodfield, you must give Georgie notice the previous Thursday so that he can get leave to go out with you, get Miss Rimington to show you over the place.
Mr Price has just looked in, he is going to have several services on Ascension Day beginning with one at 5 a.m. he tells me he went to the visitation to-day with the churchwardens who are thus properly admitted. To-morrow I am going to meet Frank, at Stratford, he cannot come here as he wants to avail himself of the excursion trains on the two lines which take him from Sandwich to Stratford and back for 7/6!
I hope you will have a smooth passage back dear, I shall be so glad when you are quietly settled down at Byfleet where you can rest a bit you must take it very easy there and allow yourself to be “spoiled” for a few days.
Ethel will write to you another time, we have written between us to all the absentees. The things in the garden are growing now but want rain.
