My Dearest Wife,

I am so busy again that I must put you off with a short letter.  Only five meetings this week besides 2 brewing mornings and journeys!  Mr Collier too is away for a week or so.

I have just driven up from luncheon, Ethel received your letter.  I will meet you at Evesham 4.7 and drive you down, we shall be so glad to get you back dear.

Mr Gepp looked in this morning you will just miss seeing him by a few hours.  Edwin Bell was taken very ill on Sunday and died next day, I think his heart was wrong.

That tiresome servant you engaged has played us a trick, thrown up the place and gone elsewhere, I expect her mother is at the bottom of it, I have written to say we may think proper to make a demand upon her of a month’s wages.  I have put an advt in the Birmingham Post also seen Miss Wadams.  Emily I believe would half liked to stay on a bit but I think it very undesirable to keep her under any circumstances.

I am leaving you to write to May and George.  We have had a lovely rain but no thunder, it has done a lot of good.

Hoping to see you safe and sound on Friday dear wife

I am ever
Your loving Husband

Julius Sladden
