My Dear Kathleen,

You will be glad to know that Dip has got another £10 scholarship for the ensuing year.

Georgie thinks he will get a double remove after the Summer holidays.  I hope to send you a box of roses on Saturday by the first train and you had better try and meet them at your end at 11.47a.m.  I may mark a few blooms specially for you to wear so that you cannot well give them away.  I took three second prizes at Evesham rose show to-day, I had some nice Teas but the Hybrid Perpetuals were not sufficiently out to enable me to exhibit in that class.  Fancy Ethel’s delight at beating eight others in the Dinner Table decoration and she quite deserved first prize for her pretty arrangement she was ahead of (among others) Mrs H Haynes, two  Miss Martins, Mrs “Lyng” Smith, Mrs Tovey &c.

I shall want to hear how you came off in the prize way and how the grand function goes off altogether.  I hear Baby is receiving a great deal of attention on her first visit from home and am glad she seems to retain her happy little ways.  Your bike has had to have a new back tyre and, with a little paint, now looks quite well and goes well too.  I have been writing to May and so am rather tired after an early morning &c I will say good night.

With love from us all
I remain
your affectionate Father

Julius Sladden

Cyril went to the Regatta with us.
