My Dearest Wife,
I suppose you got down to Folkestone on Saturday but we have as yet, had no news of you since you wrote from Richmond.
I will forward Georgie’s letter also one from Cyril which he has finished this evening, he has been very energetically hoeing of late and really keeps down a lot of weeds. We are getting on pretty well in your absence but the house seems very quiet with so few about, especially when Cyril has gone to bed.
I think you had better go to Windsor next Monday or Tuesday, the two following are cheap days for the Agricultural Show there and then the trains may be rather crowded and the town very full. If you have returned, as we expect, from Sandwich &c to-day you will have found May’s letter and enclosures awaiting you. I will write to Ethel, and George this week and leave the other two for you.
Mr Collier is better but has not yet turned up to business, I should think he will turn up tomorrow as it is so much warmer if he wants to go for a change after this I think it is very likely I shall not manage North Wales however you can ascertain from Charlotte a little as their projected movements, when they start &c &c.
How did you find Grannie, I hope pretty comfortable, give her a kiss for me with my love. I daresay Charlotte and John are looking forward to their trip tell the latter I hope he has kept his pedestrian powers in good order. There is a rose or two out on that “Claire Jacquier” against the stable, and all the plants are growing now fast, there is not much blight as yet. The peonies are coming out at last.
I will keep this letter open till morning in case there is anything to add. I hope you are enjoying your visit.
