My dearest Wife,

I will write a few lines this Saturday, evening to post in the morning as I dare say you will be expecting another letter.

It has been warmer to-day and now a good shower of rain would be acceptable, the apple blossom is lovely now and the foliage generally seems very good.

I heard from Charlotte to-day but there was not much news in her letter, she speaks of Miss Cumming being away and Miss Kitty Potter in charge which is fresh to us, they seem a little uncertain about their trip next month until the great servant question is settled, they may go to London for a day next week but will of course be unable to bring Egham in on that occasion, yesterday was John’s birthday.  I forget how far it is to 9 Walworth Terrace from St Enoch’s station, I suppose one had better take a cab, you might let me know.

Mr Collier has not been at business for two days he has a nasty place on his foot and has to keep his leg up, so I have been pretty busy and could not get down early to-day.

I have got those rose labels put on and now there is plenty of spraying to be done the trees against the walls being rather foul.  I think I must go to Pandy on Thursday but it need be only for the day.  Next Tuesday I will post to you again and forward any letters, you will recollect it is your turn to write to May, Arthur and George.  Little Juliet is quite happy, I have promised to take her to Wickhamford Church in the morning, she can have her nap when she returns.  Ethel will give you any other home news.  I will leave this open to see if there is anything more to put in after seeing the post in the morning.  I hope you are having nice weather.

With much love
I am ever
Your affectionate Husband

Julius Sladden
