My Dearest Wife,
I must write and forward the various letters to-day, I presume George has sent his direct. You will be very pleased, as I was, to hear that Kathleen has been awarded that prize don’t forget to tell May, Arthur and George of her success when you write to them this week as I presume you will, I will send the stamps to Bancrofts and also see about May’s advt, I think your servants advt had better go in the end of next week. Tell George I sent him off 400 of “grass” yesterday carriage paid which has I hope arrived safely, I will let him know the cost when we meet.
It is quite hot to-day although the wind is in the cold quarter. I have just come down in time to write this before tea. Hildegarde has just been in to have tea with Ethel. Mrs Idiens is very considerate about Ethel and insists that she shall not go to lessons on Friday which will of course be a relief.
I must go to Pandy for the day on Thursday. Mr Collier writes me that he is better and hopes to turn up to business to-morrow, he wants to get round before I go.
Little Juliet was so good with me at Wickhamford Church on Sunday, she is quite delighted at the prospect of her Richmond visit, she sends love and kisses to her own little Lilly.
John Roberts was at Cape Town on May 1st and is expected home very shortly. I shall take a cab direct to the house when I arrive on Saturday morning and ought to be ready for some breakfast, I shall get a good meal at Evesham before I leave.
Ethel thanks you for your letter received this morning and will write another day.
Fred Robinson has sent a document for us to sign respecting the transfer of that Sandwich property, I will bring it up with me when I come.
With much love, dear,
I am ever
Your affectionate Husband
Julius Sladden
