My dearest Wife,

I was so sorry to hear about George but hope it will only prove a mild case.

I shall leave here by an earlier train so as to reach Woodford about 1.30 P.M. then I will decide as to Cyril’s coming home, I do not think it desirable to bring him home unless there appears special reason.  If I find it best to bring him home I will wire to you at once then go over and ask Mrs Idiens if she will have Juliet to stay for a few days and take her there (if they will have her) before Cyril arrives as it would be folly to let them meet until we know Cyril is safe.  I have wired to Cyril to say I am coming.  Of course I will make all enquiries about George.

Everything has gone off well to-day, but more of that when we meet.  If you hear nothing further of me you may expect I am coming alone by train as arranged.

Your loving Husband

Julius Sladden
