My dearest Wife,
I have just lunched here and will now write you a few lines so that you may get a letter on Friday to let you know how things are going on.
We were glad to have your post card, it was tiresome your train being so late. You did not say how John was, I hope this warmer weather will be beneficial to him. Ethel heard from Fanny to-day, it will not be convenient for her and Juliet to go till June 1st on account of house cleaning, this is rather a nuisance, however it cannot be helped.
The invitation card to Holloway College came this morning for June 2nd “to meet HRH The Princess of Wales”!
I think I can get a cow by the time we want one for about £10 from Mr Stellard at Malvern who rears Dexter Kerry’s. The poultry are doing all right, the Alcester sitting of buff Leghorns brought out 11 chicks. The apple blossom is beginning to show nicely and all the fruit seems setting well, it was warmer last night and to-day.
George and Bert Idiens cycled to Stratford yesterday and much enjoyed “Julius Caesar”. That servant will not do being very delicate and not up to anything like hard work, we are re-inserting the advt.
We have heard of no more scarlatina cases since 1st inst but shall keep the school closed another week.
There is really no news to give you but I will keep this open till I get home and post it there, in case there is anything else to put in the letter.
With love to Charlotte & John and much to yourself, dear
I am ever
Your loving Husband
Julius Sladden
6 P.M. I was glad to get your letter when I came down to tea. I am afraid the Parish’s food has not much diminished. The place on Boo’s head is better. I think I had better post this to Delf House, my love to all there.
Juliet sends kisses she is quite well and happy.
