My dear Kathleen,
We were very interested in your letter received on Sunday morning. I am inclined to think that, in the absence of any very tempting opening, you are doing well to accept the Stepney post, it has its drawbacks no doubt but I think it quite probable that you may find these counter-balanced by advantages, some of these may be prospective but none the less real, I expect the boys will be very pleased at the idea of your coming to London.
We have a large number of acceptances for the Flower Show “at home” and you may certainly take it that your presence on that day, if practicable, would be welcome.
On 27th I expect Jack and I will start for the Isle of Man and Arthur for Sandwich, Norah travelling home with him, then early the following week Ethel and Juliet will be off the former to Upper Deal and Judy to Delph house, so there will be quite a clearance, I shall only be away about five days but Jack may take a little longer time, joining a friend in the lake country.
Cyril’s corps is not going to Aldershot so he will be home on 28th. So far we have no letters via Frisco but we heard from May on Monday via Italy and I will forward her letter and diary. I think you had better return both here.
George thinks he may get his holiday (a full fortnight) the early part of September.
The roses are going over a bit but the garden still looks nice, we have had a good deal of wind lately and that blows things about rather. Our apple crop is quite a large one and there will be a few plums beyond our own requirements, they have been gathering a fine lot of raspberries this evening. Arthur & Brailsford are helping me to bud that big patch of roses. Arthur is going to put up a large collection of cut flowers at the show as he did last year.
