My darling Wife,
We are very much looking forward to your return home next Tuesday, after such a long absence, but when the day comes I do not want you to undertake the journey if you do not happen to feel equal to it, however I hope very much we may get you back safely and not too tired, if you can get a fairly empty carriage you ought to put your feet up part of the time, but I expect Nurse Ethel will see all about that.
May has been to a picnic at Stanway at Mrs Slater’s invitation, there were quite thirty there, it was rather windy and rained here shortly before she returned, however she escaped the shower.
I did a little more gardening after tea until the rain drove me in. Just as I had finished tea Mr Collins Ashwin came in to see the roses and brought his sister Marion, she is staying over the way, just for the week end, with Roddy whose half term holiday it is. Mr Ashwin wants me to go over to lunch on Wednesday and see his roses and also those at the Hall.
We had a second post card from Judy yesterday saying she was getting on “swimmingly”, she had been moved up in English History and Phonetics (French) and is going to begin Literature and European History, much to her pleasure.
Yesterday during my absence from the office Dr and Mrs Pearl called to enquire after you they were motoring with friends from Malvern to Broadway, I concluded they would lunch at the Lygon so telephoned there and found him, I suggested they should return via Badsey, see the roses and have some tea, however they wanted to get back to Malvern soon, they sent friendly messages to you and Ethel.
Black puss has been catching some young rats in the barn and has fancy either killed or frightened away the old one.
We had no news from Torquay to-day so are hoping for a further good report to-morrow morning.
