My dearest Wife,
We were glad to know, by wire, of your safe arrival yesterday and your letter this morning was most welcome, I really think it deserves this early reply.
The fog still continues it looked almost like clearing about dinner time but now 5.30P.M. it has come on as thick as ever, I think the house is the most comfortable place, and I have sent an excuse for both the Lodge meeting and the political meeting late on, shan’t I be very proper in going to Church instead and hearing “Father” Lopes!
By the way I called at the manor to-day left a card each for the Rev gentleman and Mr Wilson they were both in the village but had gone up to the Tudor house, they seem to be pulling down all that brick extension at the back.
Have you done anything about Mary Williams, if you like to invite her as your guest I will go as far as £2 in meeting the expense at the hotel.
Ethel has about half a dozen of the G.F.S. girls this afternoon, she picked up several little remnants of silk at very small cost at Lances’ sale and a few other things.
I saw Miss Macdonald to-day her father had had another attack of sickness but had managed to get down stairs.
I enclose a letter from Mrs Davenport also Judy’s post card, May is writing her a few lines and supplying the necessary want. I hope Arthur is getting on and that he likes the place, one of us must write to him soon.
If it is cold with you you must not go to bed or get up without a fire it is better to have these little luxuries rather than catch cold.
Mrs Beth called yesterday, of course, just missing you!
The girls join me in much love to you and Arthur
Your affectionate Husband
