My dearest Wife,
I was pleased to hear from your letter to May this morning that you thought Arthur was shewing benefit from the change and now I hope he will continue building up his strength.
It seems a pity he should not stay, and you too, till Saturday or even Monday for unless there is urgent need for his return just a day or two extra might be very beneficial, it would be a great pity for him to resume work while only partially fit.
We have had a nice bright day after a sharp night frost but the wind is unusually piercing (strong N.E.) and I hope it will moderate before you return for I do not quite like the idea of your coming back to such a climate let alone the journey you must be very careful to keep warm while travelling and out of draughts. I think your best train would be the 1.35 due at Stratford 6.24 and there is a good connection reaching Evesham at 7.17 where I should of course have a fly in waiting for you, most likely one of us would meet you at Stratford, you should address your luggage to Evesham via Stratford or it may get put out at Cheltenham and not reach Evesham till a later train.
I must try and write Arthur a line for his birthday later on, you had better find out his wants and he must have his present a little late.

We are getting along quite comfortably, the man has set the repaired copper and Averill’s man has seen to the lobby lock, the oven door and the boiler tap.
The sun has gone down very red and the cold spell seems likely to continue, be very careful of catching cold just now and don’t stint a fire in your room if it seems desirable,
