My dear Cyril,
So you’ve been and gone and done it! – well, I think you have made no mistake in this most important step in a man’s life, we are all very fond of Mela and she seems to have so many qualifications which tend towards happiness in married life, may love’s young dream be the prelude of many years to you both in the future, I must write and tell Mela what a welcome addition she will be to the family circle.
Such a prosaic affair as a birthday seems “small beer” compared to your news of this morning nevertheless I send the usual good wishes, one day in advance, and will post you our little present, in the shape of a book, to-morrow. I hope before many anniversaries recur you will be in a position to settle down in married life.
Mother is really improving I think and with better weather would further benefit by the fresh air.
Poor Mr McDonald is I think absolutely sinking to-day, it is wonderful how he has lasted out.
We shall be glad to see Kathleen on Friday and it is nice that she can stay till Wednesday.
