My darling Husband,
I had your note this morning & suppose I may get a letter sent down this afternoon.
Florence arrived all right yesterday, I was right, she is engaged to a Mr Shenton, a widower with two children; I hope she has thought enough about it before getting engaged, but she does not seem to me to be very happy over her engagement.
I had letters from Mrs Burrows & Essie Irvine this morning, also a few lines from Annie thanking me for the book. Essie tells me she saw May the other day, & she was just off to America for three months with her husband, leaving the children with Mrs Parnely.
I hope you are having nice weather dear, & thoroughly enjoying your trip, I do long to see you home again, my darling. Jack & May gave me each a kiss for Papa, they haven’t been at all shy with Florence but seem to take very little notice of her, at first; she thinks her Godchild a fine little thing & calls them all pretty children.
Captain & Miss Byrch called yesterday, but I was out. Mrs Savory is coming to dinner this evening.
How are all at Glasgow, I hope Charlotte is enjoying her visit, does she go straight home after her month in Scotland?
And now, dear, I don’t seem to have got much to relate today, so will close. Florence sends her love (with my permission) & with fondest love from myself
