My darling Husband,
We got here all right yesterday, & my box arrived with us, Fanny’s did not come till the last train, thank you for sending the telegram. I am sorry we run it quite so close, but our clocks must have been slow at home & the fly none too punctual, as we certainly did not keep him waiting more than five minutes. Baby was very good coming & made great friends with a lady who turned out to be Mrs Jones’ mother-in-law, who had just been to see her poor little grandchildren. Mrs Burrows did not meet us, as I had put the wrong time on my post-card, so she fancied we were coming by the next train. I have not been over the way yet, as they have a party of friends there, but we went to see the Flints last night. I have been enjoying a lovely bath this morning, I found no one would be using it, so had a treat. I wonder how my dear little ones are, give them all a fond kiss from Mamma & tell them I hope they are good & happy. I wonder whether you will have Kitty down to dinner today, at any rate I expect she will get a good rough with Papa in the afternoon. Essie saw Papa in Paris the other day & gives a very good account of him, says he looks wonderfully well. She hopes you will come for me on Tuesday, do try to dear, if you can possibly manage it. I must put my things on for church now, so with fondest love & many kisses to you & the dear ones
Believe me
Your loving wife
