My dearest Julius,

I will just send a line in answer to your letter received this morning, I shall quite expect you tomorrow & shall be much disappointed if you do not turn up.  Will you ask Phillis to send me a piece or two of stuff like Kitty’s winter petticoat, she has managed to wear a hole in it, & I want to patch it before it gets worse.  Mary would be very pleased if you could bring her up a rose-tree for her garden.  Jack & May seem to be meeting with a great deal of kindness, I must write to Miss Savory & thank her for being so good to them.

I got on very well with poor Martha yesterday, she seemed delighted to see me.  Kitty is quite jolly now & a very good girl, she is going out with Sarah soon, & I most do up my letter for her to post.  Give my best love to the dear little ones, I hope Baby & Ethel are quite well & good.

With fond love
I remain
Your affect wife

Eugénie N Sladden
