My dearest Julius,
I was so glad to receive your letter this morning telling of your safe arrival with the chicks & am glad to hear they were good & that Kitty is making herself at home.
Miss Savory arrived on Wednesday evening & is so kind & friendly; she makes herself quite at home & does not want any entertaining, this morning she has walked into Evesham & will do a little shopping for me. May seems tolerably contented without her companions, she went out with Miss Savory yesterday & met Cynthia & today the latter is to have tea with her. May sends you her love & a kiss & the two babies also gave me kisses for Papa; Ethel has made such friends with Miss Savory & Baby is also pretty friendly with her; Miss S. sends her kind regards & she is so glad to be able to be with me. You must not worry about me dear, I want you to enjoy your change & come home rested & refreshed by it.
I am amused at Phillis who has evidently made up her mind to get this job over during your absence, she put up the nurse’s bed in my room as soon as you were out of the house & has even got mine ready, so we are prepared for emergencies. I slept very badly the first night you were away but better last night & feel tolerable.
Mr Hunt came for Mr Corbett’s funeral yesterday, & paid me quite a long visit in the evening, he was sorry not to see you.
I hope you got the gun all right & were able to go shooting; it is much warmer here today & rather inclined to rain. I suppose you will be going on to Ash tomorrow, give my love to them all there.
I shall be glad to hear how Jack is shaking down & am sorry they were none of them able to meet him. Give Kitty a good kiss for me & with love to Fanny & much love to you, my own darling Husband.
Believe me
Your loving wife
