My dearest Julius,
May has been writing to Auntie Lottie so I will write you a few lines & send her letter in mine. I hope you were not too tired with your journey yesterday & got to Ash pretty punctually, I shall hope to get a letter from you tomorrow afternoon.
I think May managed to have a tolerably nice birthday, they rather enjoyed going to the rehearsal. George was a very naughty boy yesterday, he got cross with Arthur & bit his arm very badly right through his sleeve; the skin was broken & bruised. I gave Master George the slipper to some time & he was in disgrace for some time afterwards.
I called to enquire after Mrs Gepp yesterday, she was not quite so well & looked awfully bad; it appears she has had a miscarriage, so Mrs Savory tells me. Mr Gepp had a fearful cold today & actually got his brother to read the lessons for him. Miss Jourdain took a class at the Sunday school this morning, I think she will go on taking one.
I will not write any more now as it is bed time. Give my love to your Mother, Charlotte & Aunt Susan also to all at Guston. Hoping soon to hear from you
I am
Your loving wife
Eugénie N Sladden
The children would send love if they were up.
