My dear Kathleen
I am afraid you will not get a nice long letter this time as I have been resting for rather a long time this afternoon & now it is not far off post times. Cyril & Ethel are having tea at the Woods today in honour of Lily’s birthday which was yesterday. Cyril seems to like his lessons with Miss Hanson, he comes home to dinner in the best of spirits & tells me what marks he has got. Have you found your drill blouse? It is nowhere at home & I fancy you must have left it at school last holidays. Your dresses came back from the dyer today & look very well. I will get yours done as soon as possible & send it over together with the white shawl. I gave Annie notice on Saturday morning so now I am looking out again & do hope I may get hold of a decent girl before her month is up. Phillis has been down here today, darning up the turkey carpet. I want to have it shaken tomorrow, weather permitting so as to put down the new one. I expect you are both looking forward to seeing Father on Saturday. I heard from Miss Smith this morning, she will see him at 2 o’clock. We shall be most dreadfully dull while he is away. We paid our state call at the Vicarage on Tuesday, found Mr & Mrs Price at home & the Savorys also calling. I should think by next week we see all the doctor’s carriages rolling by from Evesham having a race as to who gets there first. There is no news and it is very nearly dark, so will stop.
