My dear Kathleen
It is your turn for a letter from me this week, & I must write this evening, as when I have a rest in the afternoon, there does not seem very much time before post. I am so pleased to hear you were top in all your subjects & hope you will manage to keep your place. Miss Poulton’s address is 11 bis Rue du Bois du Boulogne, Avenue du Bois de Boulogne, Paris. I am glad that the coat & shirt were comfortable & hope they met with May’s approval. The new servant is to come in next Wednesday, so I informed Annie today that she could depart on Tuesday evening though her month is not up till the 18th; I do hope that Mary Rose will be more successful. Ethel is busy concocting a letter to Mrs Marsh who is likely to become a customer for eggs & poultry; Father is partly dictating it to her, so that any thoughts are rather wandering. I have not seen much of Mrs Price yet. I called there yesterday, & had a little chat with her, she seems pleasant, but I should fancy she has had a bringing up somewhat like the Butlers, plenty of luxury etc. & if so, she will probably find it difficult to get accustomed to the life of a country parson’s wife; she was at Sunday School last Sunday but only intends to be a stop gap at present; Miss MacDonald is taking your class. I have declined to do any decorating for the Harvest this time but Ethel will help & probably do the font. The Bells seem rather at a standstill for awhile, the carpenter has finished the floors, but the frame has not arrived yet, I should think they would be ready to ring by Christmas time. It is rather difficult to know what time to go to church as there are no bells, & the clock is also taken away & is at present in our granary. We are sending you the account of Mr and Mrs Price’s reception, if you are writing to one of the boys, you might send it to them when read. I don’t think of any more news for you, so must say good night.
