My dear Ethel,
I was glad to hear from you this morning & know how you were getting on; I expect you will like to hear of our doings, so will write a few lines while looking after Baby.
Arthur, May & Kath have gone for a bicycle ride this afternoon and will call at Willersey. Yesterday Arthur went with Father to Drakes Broughton & the day before to Alcester.
May sends her love & says she will be glad to get you home, as Arthur & Kathleen do nothing but talk mathematics, which of course she can’t understand; they were all three busy this morning picking plums & beans.
I have sent a sovereign to Mr Price for the Bell Fund & have already got several shillings towards another.
This morning Anna sent me some nice little boxes & baskets for sweets & also some butter scotch. Laura went off yesterday unregretted by all, except it might be Baby; she did not have the civility to say good afternoon to me, though I was in the pantry when she started. I think we are well rid of her, she has left her own room in a very dirty state & never attempted to sweep it up.
I have not heard from Sigley yet, 3d in the shilling is a very good discount & even if they don’t care to take any back, I should think we ought to be able to sell 50/- worth, either at the Bazaar or afterwards. Give my love to Miss Corbett, I am glad to hear she is better.
Send us a post-card when we are to expect you home & with love from us all
Believe me
Your loving mother
