My dearest Husband,
I was pleased to get your letter this morning, thank you for it. I had quite a budget by post, a letter from each of my four daughters. I am enclosing May’s for you to see, I am glad she had made a good start & not succumbed to sea-sickness, I hope the Bay did not prove too much for her yesterday. I am glad I am away from home for a few days & shall have time to get a little accustomed to May’s absence before I go back. Jack had tea & supper here yesterday, we went together to call on Mrs Bowden but she was out of town for the week end. Florence & I are going to lunch at Richmond today, she says I am to tell you that she is good at pruning fruit trees & will cut them all to pieces for you if you will sharpen some knives, & she can dig beautifully! She seems quite looking forward to a quiet time at Badsey, I tell her it will be very quiet. We went to a matinée at the Haymarket on Saturday & talk of going to some theatre tomorrow night, I shall go to Weybridge on Wednesday afternoon.
Florence has her club to attend tonight & George is coming to supper to keep me company. I have had it quite fine so far, but rather cold, we are quite glad of a fire in the evening. How do you like George & Lizzie’s house? are they nearly straight now? give my love to them, also to Aunt George. My luggage turned up about five minutes after I did. I must go & get ready now, so with much love, dear
I remain
Your loving wife
