My dear Cyril,
You will think I have quite forgotten to write to you but I generally have several other letters to write & have not time.
I expect you are very excited at the idea of seeing Jack next Sunday. Before very long you will have Jack & Kathleen & me home again for the holidays & then it will be nearly Christmas.
Auntie Fanny gave up such a nice hamper to take back to school we have not quite finished all its contents yet. There were two small cakes, three pots of jam, some very nice sweets & chocolates & some apples & pears. We have still one pot of jam & most of the sweets & chocolates left.
As my birthday is on a Friday I shall not be able to have any “tuck” for tea. Because we are not allowed to have things out of the cupboard on Fridays so I think the best plan will be to have my birthday feast on Ethel’s birthday, the day before.
I hope the chickens & all the creatures are quite well. I suppose you have to be very industrious & make yourself useful in helping to feed them. I hope you are a good boy at your lessons with Mother & are getting on well with them. I must end now
With much love to you all I am
your loving sister
May E. Sladden
